The Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP), established in 1982 by the Aga Khan Foundation, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. AKRSP works through grassroots organizations, capacity building, and partnerships to promote sustainable development, enhance incomes, and strengthen local governance.
The BRAVE initiative led by Concern Worldwide with AKF, AKRSP, and AKAH, strengthens climate resilience in vulnerable communities of GBC. It develops inclusive, climate-resilient adaptation plans from village to district levels. The project promotes climate-smart livelihoods through regenerative agriculture, eco-DRR, and nature-based solutions. It pilots watershed management and efficient irrigation to conserve water. By establishing business and knowledge hubs, it creates sustainable income opportunities. BRAVE also builds government capacity to integrate climate adaptation into local planning. Using participatory approaches and anticipatory action, the initiative aims to institutionalize long-term resilience against climate
