Maryam Batool Ainee- A journey of commitment, empowerment and resilience

The report is focussed on Maryam Batool Ainee, who is a successful business women form Skardu, Baltistan. Her journey over the past two decades is marked by resilience, leadership, and a deep commitment to uplifting other women. Maryam has carved out a space for herself and others in the field of entrepreneurship, skills training, and cultural preservation.

AKRSP’s support proved instrumental throughout Maryam’s journey. It not only helped her build her own capacity but also provided her with the tools to build a generation of skilled, independent women. One of her landmark achievements came with the formation of the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) in Skardu, which she co-founded alongside other committed women leaders. Supported by AKRSP, this platform filled a long-standing institutional gap, evolving from a women’s business association into a formal body capable of connecting local women entrepreneurs to national and international markets. Her contributions extend further into skills development across multiple sectors. She has led training programmes in beautician services, interior design, and home construction in Skardu and Astore.

These programs have empowered hundreds of women with market-relevant skills, many of whom now run their own small businesses or contribute to household incomes. One of her most impactful ventures is the creation of “Talent Hub – Gul Khatoon Hunar Bazaar.” This first-of-its-kind business center in Gilgit-Baltistan houses 16 women-led brands under one roof and supports over 60 businesses through branding, digital marketing, and recordkeeping. The initiative has generated employment opportunities for over 100 women, especially in food production, garment making, and the service industry. She has received several national awards for her achievements.
