AKRSP Collaborates with Key Stakeholders to Host HPV Vaccination Advocacy Seminar in Thatta, Sindh

The Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP), in collaboration with the District Health Office (DHO) Thatta, convened an Advocacy Seminar on the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Campaign to highlight the urgent need to protect adolescent girls from cervical cancer.

The seminar brought together key stakeholders, including Sadiq Memon, Member National Assembly; Mr. Riaz Hussain Shah Sherazi, Sindh Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs; officials from the District Administration; representatives from the Health, Education, Population Welfare, MERF, PPHI, and Social Welfare departments; as well as civil society organisations.

Organised under the Strengthening Nutrition and Immunization in Pakistan (SNIP) project, Speakers underscored the importance of the HPV Vaccination Campaign, scheduled to run from 15โ€“27 September 2025 across Sindh, which aims to safeguard adolescent girls against preventable diseases like cervical cancer. They noted that this initiative represents a major leap forward in advancing womenโ€™s health and Pakistanโ€™s commitment to eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem by 2030.
